Actually VS Code is a full fledged IDE and not only a text editor π It provides integrated terminal, runner and debugger by default (which you can then customize through plugins for your favorite programming language), task automation and so on and so forth.
I can relate to this except that it's with Sublime Text.
During my college days, I used a crack version of ST-2. It changes my life, despite having a heavily customized notepad++ on hand, command pallet was just so good.
When I got my first paycheck, I immediately bought a genuine license, which costed me half of that months salary, but I knew this was for the good.
Same, but with Vim (NVim).
