Massive DDoS attack affects Twitter, Amazon, others The attack on Dyn DNS services was carried out through malware-infected IoT devices such as digital cameras. This attack did not come as a surprise. In fact, Cloudflare described this sort of attack in a blog post earlier in October. Here is the Dyn postmortum on the barrage.

2017 Rust Roadmap A vision for where the Rust project should be in a year's time. Focus is improving Rust's productivity, while retaining its emphasis on fast, reliable code.

Why we chose Vue.js A simple outline of what GitLab likes about the view library Vue.js. The article is not all that interesting, but it is a nod from an important player in open source web applications. Vue is well-liked and certainly worth considering in this space.

All Tesla Cars Being Produced Now Have Full Self-Driving Hardware This represents a concrete move in the direction of software-enabled driving. Folks in the know have done a lot of bikeshedding about the choices Tesla made, but it is hard to deny this is a big deal for the future of transportation.

Disney has established an Open Source Program This is an interesting move from the company most representative of the tightening of copyright laws worldwide, often seen as abusive in their use of the laws. This seems like a step in the right direction, but it is easy to be skeptical.

The winding path of being a developer A wonderfully articulated summary of the struggles most developers face as they grow into their career.

New storage classes for Google Cloud Storage Google Cloud Storage is now significantly cheaper, faster and more available than Amazon S3.

How the Web Became Unreadable Evolutions in web design have trended away from typographic principles of print for the purpose of readability and usability. This is a well-written plea for designers to ditch some of the modern fads.
