You have a PDF that already looks finished — a certificate, a school form, a one-page agreement — and only the signature line is empty. You do not want Acrobat, another account, or a copy of the file sitting in someone else’s cloud “just to scribble a name.”
EditDocx can do that narrow job: open the PDF in this browser, put a signature box where the line is, draw, download. No signup. While you work, the PDF content is not uploaded to EditDocx servers. Product page: Fill and sign a PDF.
This is fill-and-sign, not a full PDF editor. You add text, dates, pictures, and a handwritten signature on top of a background that does not change. You cannot rewrite existing paragraphs, merge files, unlock encryption, or run OCR on a scan.

Import your
.pdffrom the sidebar (or drag it in). You can also start from New → Fill a PDF, then import. - Switch to Design. From the left tool list, place Signature on the signature line. Add Text or Date if you still need a name or date.
- Switch to Fill. Click the signature box and draw with the mouse, trackpad, or finger. Use the clear control on the box if you want another try.
- Click Export. Open the downloaded PDF in a normal viewer and check the signature before you send it.
Keep a copy of the original PDF somewhere else first. Do not open that backup in the editor.
Design vs Fill
The toolbar has two modes. Mix them up and the page feels broken.

Importing a plain PDF gives you the page as a background with no fields yet. That is why Design comes first. If you open a Template that already includes a signature box (some certificates and the pedigree starter do), you can jump to Fill sooner.
Drawing the signature
In Fill mode the signature field is a small canvas. Draw once; when you lift the pointer, the stroke is saved as an image inside the form. The clear control empties the box so you can redraw.
A stylus or finger on a tablet usually looks more natural than a mouse. If the box is too small, go back to Design, stretch it, then return to Fill.
What you get is a handwritten image baked into the PDF, the same idea as Adobe Fill & Sign. It is not a certificate-backed electronic signature, not a qualified eIDAS / ESIGN product, and not DocuSign-style identity verification. If a court, bank, or government form requires a specific signing platform, use that platform.
Before you send it
Download, then open the file in Preview, Chrome’s PDF viewer, Acrobat, or WPS. Check the page you signed and glance at nearby text and dates. Encrypted or damaged PDFs may fail to generate; the status line will say so.
On a library PC or guest laptop, use a private window, export to a USB stick or your phone, then clear this site’s data. Recent files (up to 10, 20MB each) live only in this browser until you clear them. Nothing syncs to your phone by itself.

Do I need an account?
No.
Is my PDF uploaded to EditDocx servers?
Document content is not uploaded for fill-and-sign. The page still loads scripts and fonts. Analytics can record actions such as “exported PDF,” not the text of the file. See edit without uploading and the Privacy Policy.
Can I edit the existing paragraphs in the PDF?
No. Place fields on top. For Word files, use the DOCX editor instead.
Can I merge, compress, unlock, or OCR a PDF?
No. This tool only adds fillable fields and a signature image on a PDF you already have.
Does Ctrl+S / Cmd+S download the signed PDF?
No. It only checkpoints in this browser. Use Export.
The signature looks tiny or cut off.
Switch to Design, enlarge the Signature field, switch back to Fill, clear, and draw again.
