An /etc/fstab for developers

As a developer, I often have to ask myself which files a certain process has accessed. It might be a single program run, or it might be a complex build (make invocation).

One way to answer this question is to look at the access times of the files (ls -lu). But that works only when the access times reflect the reality.

The other way is via strace. Which is much more complicated and usually only feasible for a single program run.

So, how do you make the access times reflect the reality?

Edit /etc/fstab and add the strictatime option to every ext4 mount (or btrfs mount, if that's what you are using).
