How I Built an Offline Study Portal for My School in Rural Uganda

My name is Blessing Atusasibwe (also known as Zhufu, or the stage name Long-Brus Lee). I am a 16-year-old Senior 3 student at Ngezi K.D.H.S. in Kyenjojo District, Uganda, and a self-taught web developer.

Recently, our school library was closed, and literature lessons were often cancelled. Most students couldn't afford the seven set books needed for our UNEB exams. I decided that if I couldn't get the physical resources, I would build a digital solution.

I built the Ngezi K.D.H.S. Study Portal. It is a single-file, offline-capable web application designed to run on low-specification laptops without reliable internet access.

What it does:

AI Study Companion: Answers questions in UNEB exam style (using Groq and DeepSeek APIs).

Self-Test Module: Grades student answers out of 20.

Zhu V2 Reader: A text-to-speech engine for students with reading difficulties.

Searchable Library: Covers 7 set books, including Things Fall Apart and The Merchant of Venice.

I built it using HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript. It detects the hardware tier of the laptop and adjusts animations to save memory. It cost zero shillings to build.

My Goals:
I am deeply inspired by Bruce Lee (Li Jun Fan) and aim to become the "Li Jun Fan of Uganda" — blending martial arts, acting, technology, and philosophy. I train in Jeet Kune Do and am actively learning Mandarin. My career goal is to be a web designer, a martial arts actor, and a chatbot trainer.

Silence in the build. Noise in the result.
