Unclaimed ATOM staking rewards: why they do not arrive automatically

If you stake ATOM, your rewards are not added to your wallet balance automatically. They build up and wait until you claim them. Seeing an unclaimed balance is completely normal, and it does not mean anything is stuck.

How to claim

Open a Cosmos wallet such as Keplr or Leap, go to staking and choose Claim all. Each claim costs a small fee, so claiming tiny amounts often is not worth it. Some people claim and restake once the amount is meaningfully larger than the fee.

Unclaimed rewards do not compound. Rewards only earn more once you claim them and delegate them again.

Do not confuse rewards with unbonding

Unbonding is different. When you undelegate ATOM, it goes through a 21-day waiting period. During that time it earns nothing and cannot be moved, then it returns to your balance automatically. No claim is needed for unbonded ATOM.

So there are three separate lines to look at: available ATOM, delegated ATOM, and unbonding ATOM, plus rewards on top.

Check your own wallet

See your ATOM delegations and rewards with StuckScan. It is free and read-only: you paste a public address, with no wallet connection and no signing. It shows what it checked on each chain, and anything it could not check is listed as such.

Never share your seed phrase or private key. Nobody legitimate needs them to help you, and BOTLAB never charges a fee to "recover" funds.
