How Digital Note-Taking has Saved Me Time and Effort

Use Notion to Take Notes While Learning to Code – Best Tips and Tricks

Whether you are a student, self-learner, or mom with 20 To-Do lists note-taking is an inevitable part of life. Before diving into the world of digital note-taking, I was obsessed with buying notebooks, colorful pens, and highlighters for anything I could think of. Do not get me wrong I still spend a large amount of money buying them. However, since going digital I have saved a lot of time and effort, not money but hopefully, we will get there someday.

Digital note-taking has been a time saver because everything is located in one app. I do not have to look through piles of notebooks. If I am looking for a specific topic I can easily search for it within the app.

It has also saved me a lot of effort. Let’s be honest it is easier to carry around only one laptop, phone, or iPad instead of 3 different notebooks and a backpack full of pens, highlighters, and sticky notes. If I make a mistake, hello backspace.

In this post, I will also share with you some tips and tricks on using the Notion App for note-taking while learning how to code.

Pages

pagePerCourse

Create a page per course or subject. I have a Page for "Responsive Web Design" and a separate one for "JavaScript". I also have a personal page, where I take notes on daily life happenings. As well as a content page where I keep track of you guessed it, my content. If you are interested in seeing specific posts on any of those leave it in the comments.

Headings

headings

You can use headings to show the hierarchy and importance of topics or which topics go within others.

Toggle

toggle

You can use the toggle option for overarching topics or section names. It is easier to find them later if you are looking for a reference. Also helps keep your notes organized and less cluttered.

Bullet Points

Bullet

You can nest bullet points within the toggle to write down subtopics.

Color Coding and Styling

You can color-code by highlighting, or changing the text color. You can also bold, italicize, and link text. Goodbye highlighter, pens, pencils, rulers, etc.

Code Snippets

The best feature, in my opinion, is that you can add code snippets. A code block or even code styling within the regular text. This is very helpful for future reference or if you want to use the actual code.

I hope this post was helpful and who knows it might actually help you save some money.
