Tim Berners-Lee: Don't Be Evil

Tim Berners-Lee at Talent Arena, Barcelona

One of the most iconic figures in the history of the internet made a special appearance at Talent Arena in Barcelona this week — none other than Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web.

Talent Arena, the leading tech talent and career event co-located with Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, welcomed Berners-Lee as a guest, drawing a packed crowd of developers, engineers, and tech enthusiasts eager to hear directly from the man who changed the world with a proposal in 1989.

What He Talked About

Berners-Lee spoke passionately about the open and decentralized web, revisiting his vision of the internet as a tool for empowerment — not surveillance or control. He touched on his ongoing work with the Solid project, which aims to give individuals ownership of their personal data, and called on the developer community to take an active role in shaping a healthier, fairer web.

"The web is for everyone. It's up to all of us to keep it that way."
