MidiMusic AI is an online music workspace for creating and editing songs. Start with a text idea or your own lyrics, then use tools for song covers, vocal removal, stem separation, voice covers, and music videos. Its separate browser tools can analyze or convert audio files on your device.
For a first song, open MidiMusic’s song generator, choose Simple if you have an idea or Custom if you already have lyrics, describe the sound, select vocals or instrumental, check the credit cost, and create the track. Your result appears in the library, where you can compare versions and continue editing.
Before You Start
MidiMusic has two kinds of tools:
- AI creation tools—such as song generation, lyrics, covers, voice covers, stem splitting, and music videos—use credits and process files through the service. The site shows the credit cost before you confirm an action. AI tools require an account; MidiMusic’s Terms of Service say users sign in with Google.
- Browser audio tools—such as BPM detection, MIDI conversion, and audio effects—run on your device and do not upload files, according to the Terms of Service.
You can check available plans and current credit allowances on the pricing page. Credit costs, plans, and available models can change, so use the amount shown in the tool before starting a job.
How to Create a Song with MidiMusic AI
1. Open Create song and choose a starting mode
Go to Create song from the site menu. Select the mode that matches what you have:
| Mode | What you provide | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Simple | A description of the song | You have a topic or sound in mind, but no finished lyrics |
| Custom | A title, style description, and your lyrics | You want the AI to sing words you have already written |
Simple mode generates lyrics from your description. Custom mode lets you provide a title, style description, and lyrics. The product page lists a 3,000-character limit for a Simple description and up to 5,000 characters for Custom lyrics; check the current form for its live limits.
2. Describe the sound, not just the genre
A useful prompt gives the generator several concrete clues:
- Genre or era: indie folk, 90s R&B, synth-pop
- Mood and tempo feel: wistful and slow, upbeat mid-tempo, driving
- Instruments: fingerpicked guitar, soft piano, 808 bass, strings
- Vocal direction: intimate female vocal, gritty male vocal, choir, spoken-word delivery
- Song subject: a specific person, place, moment, or story
For example: “A hopeful indie-folk song about driving home at dusk, fingerpicked acoustic guitar, a steady mid-tempo beat, and warm close-up vocals.” Avoid asking the model to imitate a named singer or copy a known song; MidiMusic’s terms prohibit unauthorized voice imitation and infringing uploads.
3. Choose vocals, length, and a model
Turn on Instrumental if you want music without a sung vocal. Otherwise, the song will include vocals. Choose a model and length from the controls available in the current generator. Model names and limits may change; the current screen can differ from older descriptions on the site.
If you use Custom mode, the product page says you can set a target length from 10 seconds to 6 minutes or leave the length open. A shorter target can help when you need a brief intro or social clip; a full lyric draft may need more time.
4. Check the cost and generate
Review the credit amount shown beside the create action, then start the job. Most song generations return two versions, while some models return one. When the tracks finish, open Library to listen, compare, and download the version you prefer. If you want a different result, adjust one or two prompt details—such as the tempo feel or instruments—before generating again.
From a saved song in your library, MidiMusic also lists Extend to continue from a chosen point and Restyle to remake the arrangement in a different genre while keeping its melody recognizable. WAV export is available on eligible paid plans. Each action shows its credit cost before you confirm it.
Failed AI jobs are automatically refunded according to the pricing page. Keep a local copy of any track you want to retain long-term; file retention depends on your account type.
How to Turn an Idea into Lyrics or a Rap Song
Use the Lyrics Generator
The Lyrics Generator is useful when you have a theme but not a full lyric. Describe the subject, point of view, genre, and mood. The page says prompts can be up to 3,000 characters.
Read the draft aloud and edit any lines that feel unnatural. Keep the section tags, or adjust them to organize the song. When the lyrics are ready, choose Use these lyrics under the version you want; the song creator opens in Custom mode with the title and lyrics filled in. Add a style description and generate the song.
Use the Rap Generator
The Rap Generator combines a rap lyric workflow with song creation. Start with a topic and attitude, then describe the rhyme style and whether the hook should be sung or rapped. Review the verse and chorus, read the bars against a steady beat, and edit them before continuing.
Move the lines into the song creator’s Custom mode and describe the beat in plain terms, such as “boom bap, dusty drums, jazzy piano, relaxed flow.” Turn on Instrumental if you want a rap beat without generated vocals.
How to Rework an Existing Song
Make a song cover in a new style
Open the Song Cover Generator, choose a track from your library or upload a recording you own or have permission to use, and describe the new arrangement. You can request a different genre, instruments, mood, or vocal delivery. Each run returns two versions. The tool follows the original melody and phrasing but uses an AI voice; it is not a voice clone.
If you replace the lyrics, keep the new lines close to the original syllable count so they fit the melody. You can also request an instrumental version. Remaking a copyrighted song does not remove rights to the original recording or composition, so only upload music you are allowed to use.
Remove vocals for karaoke or practice
Use the Vocal Remover when you need two files: the vocals and the instrumental backing track. Select a MidiMusic song from your library or upload an eligible audio file, run the separation, then play and download the MP3 files when they are ready.
This is the simpler option for karaoke or an acapella. If you need separate drums, bass, keys, or other parts, use Stem Splitter instead.
Split a song into stems
Open the Stem Splitter, add a song from your library or upload an audio file, and choose either a full split or one instrument. A full split can return up to 12 stems; single-instrument mode isolates one part. The page currently lists a 20 MB upload limit, and the parts are delivered as separate MP3 files.
Use a full split for remixing or studying an arrangement. Choose one instrument if you only need, for example, the bass line or piano part. If you only need voice and backing music, the two-file Vocal Remover is the more direct option.
Make a cover with your own voice
The AI Voice Cover changes the singer to your voice while keeping the song’s melody and backing track. Choose a song you have rights to, upload 5–25 seconds of your own clean voice recording, select the pitch setting, and confirm that the voice is yours or that you have permission to use it. The page recommends a recording without background music and with little echo.
This is a paid, credit-using feature. It is for your voice or a voice you have permission to use; it is not a tool for copying a celebrity or another person without consent. If you want to change the genre rather than the voice, use Song Cover Generator.
Turn a song into a music video
Open the Music Video Generator, select a song from your library or upload an audio file, and choose the portion to use. The tool works with up to three minutes of a song. You can optionally add lyrics and a short visual idea to guide the storyboard.
Then set the video type and format:
- Performance: a singer performs to the camera and lip-syncs the track.
- Story: scenes tell a story, with the singer appearing during the song.
- Mood: visuals follow the music without an on-screen singer; useful for instrumental or ambient tracks.
- Aspect ratio: choose 16:9 for a horizontal video or 9:16 for vertical platforms.
You can add up to three reference photos of people who have agreed to appear, or let the AI design a singer. Review and edit the storyboard before generating the video. The cost is shown before each paid step; the initial storyboard is a separate credit-using action. Only upload music and images you have permission to use.
How to Use MidiMusic’s Browser Audio Tools
The Free Tools menu includes browser utilities for common audio tasks. These run locally according to MidiMusic’s terms, unlike server-based AI creation tools. Select the tool that matches your file and task:
| Tool | What it does | Basic steps |
|---|---|---|
| BPM & Key Finder | Estimates a song’s tempo and musical key | Choose an audio file; wait for the browser analysis to show BPM and key |
| Tap Tempo | Estimates BPM from a beat you tap | Play the song, then tap the pad or press Space on each beat; the tool averages recent taps |
| Volume Booster | Raises the level of a quiet audio or video file | Select a file, set the boost and output format, preview, then download |
| Audio to MIDI | Turns a recording into editable MIDI notes | Select an audio file and convert; it works best with a single instrument or melody rather than a full mix |
| Slowed + Reverb | Makes slowed, sped-up, pitch-shifted, or reverberant versions | Choose a preset, adjust speed, pitch, and effects, preview, then download |
| MIDI to MP3 | Renders a MIDI file as MP3 or WAV | Add a .mid or .midi file, preview it with the built-in sounds, and export |
| Audio Converter | Converts supported audio or video files to MP3 or WAV | Add a file, select MP3 or WAV and quality, then download the converted file |
For Audio to MIDI, MidiMusic says a solo instrument or vocal melody gives cleaner notes than a full mix; split the mix first if needed. For any file-based tool, check the file type and size listed on that page before uploading it to the browser.
Troubleshooting Common Problems
| What you see | Likely reason | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The Create button asks you to sign in | Song generation is an account-based AI feature | Sign in, then check the credit cost shown in the generator |
| You cannot find a recent song | The job may still be processing or you are viewing a different tool’s results | Check the Library or the results area for that specific tool |
| Audio to MIDI returns cluttered notes | A full mixed song contains several overlapping instruments | Use a single-instrument recording or split out a stem first |
| An upload is rejected | The file format or size may not meet that page’s limits | Check the formats and size shown under that tool’s upload area; use Audio Converter if a supported conversion will help |
| You want to publish or monetize a track | Commercial permission depends on the plan active when the track was created | Check the current pricing page and Terms of Service before release |
| A song cover or voice cover uses someone else’s work or voice | The upload or voice may require permission | Use your own material or get permission before uploading or generating |
