My Crazy Week of Loan Rejections and Stress
Last week, I suddenly needed ₱10,000 because my sister's car broke down and she desperately needed it for work. I know it's not a huge amount, but I've been having a tough time making ends meet lately, so I thought I'd try to get a loan to help her out. I applied for a loan at a local bank, but they rejected me because of my credit score. I was worried, so I tried another bank, and they offered me a loan with an interest rate of 2.5% per month, which is equivalent to 30% per year - it was way too high for me.
I was getting frustrated because every bank I applied to either rejected me or offered me a loan with high interest rates. I even tried some online lenders, but they were all asking for ridiculously high interest rates, some even above the 6% per month maximum set by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). I was starting to feel stressed and overwhelmed, and I didn't know what to do.
A few days ago, I was searching online for options, and I found this while searching online: I stumbled upon https://www.creditkaagapay.com/ and it seemed like a helpful resource for finding loan options. I also checked out the article at https://www.creditkaagapay.com/blog/low-interest-loan-ofw-manila-your-2026-guide/ which had some really useful tips for OFWs like me who are looking for low-interest loans.
After reading the article, I realized that I should have checked my credit score before applying for loans, and I should have also compared the interest rates and terms of different lenders. I felt relieved when I found out that there are government-backed loans like the SSS Salary Loan and the Pag-IBIG Membership Loan that offer more affordable interest rates. I'm planning to apply for one of these loans this week, and I'm hoping that I'll get approved.
I'm just sharing my experience in case it helps someone who's going through the same thing. I learned that it's really important to do your research and compare your options before applying for a loan. And if you're an OFW like me, it's worth looking into government-backed loans and reputable online lenders.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get approved for a loan with a decent interest rate. Wish me luck! Just sharing in case this helps someone.
