The downloader I wanted before the AI tools

The rest of ClapClip AI needs files to work on, which is the whole reason it has a video downloader. Transcription, subtitles, enhancement: all of it starts with a video on your disk. So here's what the downloader does, and what it doesn't. (I'm Chris, the developer.)

What it does

You paste a link into the ClapClip AI Windows app. It works out which platform it's from and shows what it can read about the video: title, thumbnail, duration, author, and the formats and resolutions on offer. You pick a video resolution or audio, choose a folder, and it saves the file to your PC.

The platforms listed on the site are YouTube (videos, Shorts, playlists, channels), TikTok, Instagram Reels and public video posts, X/Twitter posts with video, Reddit, Twitch VODs and clips, Vimeo, Facebook public videos and Reels, SoundCloud tracks and playlists, Bilibili and Dailymotion. That's 11. What actually shows up depends on the link and what the source offers, so check in the app.

The queue is the useful part

One video is easy anywhere. Where it gets tedious is twenty. You can add a bunch of links to one queue, reuse the same output settings, and it retries temporary failures and resumes interrupted downloads. There's a history too, so you can see what you already grabbed.

Quality, honestly

It goes up to whatever quality the source serves. If the original was uploaded at 720p, you get 720p. Audio comes as the source audio, or MP3 where available. No ClapClip watermark is added, and unlike the web version (clapclip.art) there's no 720p or 5-minute cut.

Price and connection

The downloader is free. It obviously needs an internet connection to fetch the video. Once the file is on your disk, transcription, enhancement and face swap can run on it locally.

Please read this bit

Only download videos you own or have permission to save, and follow each platform's terms. It's meant for your own uploads, Creative Commons stuff, research material you're allowed to keep, that kind of thing. It isn't for paid, rented or DRM-protected content, and I won't pretend otherwise.
