When I first built Board Stash, I wanted it to be as frictionless as possible:
- No logins
- No setup
- Just drop a link and collect feedback
It worked — and it still does. But I’m starting to see the limits of a truly no-login app.
Here’s what’s hard without accounts:
- You can’t really manage multiple boards
- If you lose your admin link, you lose your board
- There’s no way to notify you when someone posts
- And unfortunately… bad actors can abuse open boards
I still love the simplicity. But simplicity without accountability doesn’t scale well.
What’s next?
I’ll be rolling out optional login support soon. That opens the door for:
- Secure board ownership
- A real admin dashboard
- Email notifications
- And eventually, team boards and analytics
I’m still building in public and still aiming to keep it lightweight — but a little structure will go a long way.
Let me know if you’ve wrestled with this tradeoff in your own projects. I’d love to hear how you handled it.
