Why Board Stash Will Soon Require Logins (And That’s Okay)

When I first built Board Stash, I wanted it to be as frictionless as possible:

  • No logins
  • No setup
  • Just drop a link and collect feedback

It worked — and it still does. But I’m starting to see the limits of a truly no-login app.

Here’s what’s hard without accounts:

  • You can’t really manage multiple boards
  • If you lose your admin link, you lose your board
  • There’s no way to notify you when someone posts
  • And unfortunately… bad actors can abuse open boards

I still love the simplicity. But simplicity without accountability doesn’t scale well.

What’s next?

I’ll be rolling out optional login support soon. That opens the door for:

  • Secure board ownership
  • A real admin dashboard
  • Email notifications
  • And eventually, team boards and analytics

I’m still building in public and still aiming to keep it lightweight — but a little structure will go a long way.

Let me know if you’ve wrestled with this tradeoff in your own projects. I’d love to hear how you handled it.
