The viva is where many students lose marks, even with a working project. Examiners usually want to see that you understand what you built. Here is a simple way to prepare.
1. Know Your Problem Statement
Be ready to explain in two or three sentences:
- What problem does your project solve?
- Who will use it?
- Why is it better than a manual or existing method?
2. Understand Every Module
Draw a simple block diagram of your project: input, processing, output. If you cannot explain a module, do not keep it in your demo.
3. Explain Your Technology Choices
Be ready for questions like:
- Why did you choose Python (or Java, or Android)?
- Why this algorithm and not another one?
- Where does your dataset come from, and how big is it?
4. Prepare for Common Viva Questions
- What is the novelty of your project?
- What are its limitations?
- How would you improve it in future?
- What was the hardest bug you faced, and how did you fix it?
- How did you test your project?
5. Practice the Live Demo
- Run the project three times before the viva.
- Keep a backup video or screenshots in case the setup fails.
- Test it on the lab computer if you can.
6. Know Your Results
If your project uses machine learning, learn your accuracy, how you measured it, and what the confusion matrix shows. Do not quote numbers you cannot explain.
7. Keep Your Answers Honest
If you do not know an answer, say so calmly and explain how you would find it. Examiners respect honesty more than a guess.
