This is a submission for the DEV April Fools Challenge
What I Built
I built a completely useless AI-powered coffee assistant that actively refuses to help you ☕🤖
At first glance, it looks like a premium, clean, Apple-style web app designed to help you brew the perfect coffee. But the moment you interact with it… everything goes wrong.
Instead of solving problems, it creates them.
The “AI” gives sarcastic and unhelpful responses, buttons escape your cursor, sliders behave incorrectly, and the entire experience is intentionally frustrating — but in a fun way.
This project embraces the idea that not all software needs to be useful. Sometimes, it just needs to make you laugh or question reality.

How I Built It
This project was built with a focus on clean design and chaotic behavior.
Tech stack:
- HTML (structure)
- CSS (premium UI, animations, transitions)
- JavaScript (interactive logic and absurd behaviors)
- Node.js (for the HTTP 418 "I'm a teapot" endpoint)
Key features:
- Buttons that move away when hovered
- Sliders that control the wrong things
- Fake AI assistant that refuses to help
- Random sarcastic responses
- Smooth animations that contrast with broken logic
- A dedicated 418 "Teapot Mode" feature
I focused on making the UI feel polished and professional, while the functionality is intentionally misleading and useless.
Prize Category
🏆 If I win, I’d be thrilled to receive the coffee kettle or coffee machine prize.
This project includes a dedicated feature using the HTTP 418 "I'm a teapot" status code, fully embracing the spirit of the original joke protocol and turning it into an interactive experience.
🏆 Community Favorite
The app is designed to be fun, interactive, and shareable. Every interaction is meant to surprise users and encourage reactions, making it ideal for community engagement.
This app solves absolutely nothing.
And that’s exactly why it exists!
