It is remarkable how much my Codex helps me set up my Mac Studio from end to end, the one I bought recently.
And yes, I can brag: it has 128 gigabytes of RAM.
Overall the Mac Studio is a wonderful machine. But I was honestly shocked that it has no microphone. That is brutal. Imagine: a small computer with speakers in it and no microphone. Trash.
Plugged a microphone in.
Next. It really is quiet. Properly quiet. Properly, properly quiet. That is very unusual. Windows machines are a lot noisier.
Right now my ordinary Mac laptop is setting up the Mac Studio for me over SSH. Every file, every tab, all identical, a full copy.
Why do it that way? I have no path to a normal migration, because I was cheap and bought the Mac with a 512 gigabyte disk. So now I urgently need to buy some fast external drive over Thunderbolt that actually works properly.
Because I wanted to move off the laptop onto the Studio completely, and what do you know, there is not enough disk.
Honestly, you have no idea how much time using Codex or Claude Code takes off you. It is endlessly convenient. Just endlessly convenient.
So if you are reading this and, every time you heard the words "Claude Code", you thought:
But I am not a coder. What would I even do with it? Why would I use that at all?
Well: that is all nonsense.
You can use Claude Code to write a dissertation or an academic paper. Or, say, simply to have one Mac set up another Mac.
So if you want to learn to use Claude Code or Codex, I will gladly point you at something. Not just point, actually: run some kind of teaching session where I show how all of this works.
One thing I ask, though, if you are reading this: have a proper subscription. Better still a couple of them, one for Codex (on ChatGPT), and maybe one for Grok, and maybe one for Claude Code.
Several subscriptions at once is a good sign. It means you spend money, you invest in yourself, and nobody has to talk you up from the 20 dollar plan to the 100 dollar one.
Because honestly, I have no time. No time.
I think life itself is supposed to do the convincing.
