Multinational energy giant Shell is under active investigation following a severe cybersecurity incident. The notorious Cl0p ransomware syndicate claims to have exfiltrated 89GB of highly sensitive internal datasets.

Instead of traditional encryption, Cl0p (TA505) relies on pure data extortion. They exfiltrate structured databases using custom web shells, leaving file systems operating normally while confidential data is stolen. The compromised files reportedly include engineering blueprints and facility testing reports, introducing massive physical safety risks to the energy supply chain.
