MyZubster LIFE 2026: Building in the Open, One Upstream Contribution at a Time

MyZubster LIFE 2026 is moving from concept development toward a measurable environmental demonstration.

The project is being designed around digital environmental infrastructure, sensor integration, water-quality monitoring, interoperable data and independent MRV.

But we also want to build it in the open.

Contributing before integrating

Our approach to external open-source ecosystems is simple:

contribute first, integrate second.

Instead of presenting communities as partners before any formal agreement exists, we want to interact with their projects through real upstream contributions.

Our latest step is with the Monero open-source ecosystem.

We opened a small documentation contribution to Monero Docs:

PR #389 — Clarify the get_transfers pending parameter

The patch clarifies that the Wallet RPC pending option refers to pending, unconfirmed outgoing transfers.

It's deliberately small.

That's the point.

Before discussing interoperability, integrations or broader collaboration, we want to demonstrate that MyZubster can participate constructively in the upstream projects it depends on or learns from.

Why Monero is interesting for MyZubster

Privacy, verifiable data and user control are important questions for any future digital infrastructure.

MyZubster LIFE itself is currently focused on an environmental use case: connecting operational environmental data, scientific validation and digital MRV without replacing existing monitoring infrastructure.

The proposed architecture includes:

• interoperable environmental data;
• provenance and traceability;
• APIs and connectors;
• IoT and sensor integration;
• auditable evidence;
• environmental dashboards;
• Digital Environmental Passports;
• replication-ready software.

The LIFE concept is currently targeting the Circular Economy and Zero Pollution area, with water reuse and environmental MRV as the central demonstration scenario.

An invitation to the Monero community

Following our first upstream contribution, we have also reached out to the Monero community to introduce MyZubster LIFE 2026 and explore whether there could be useful areas for technical dialogue or open-source participation.

This is not an announcement of a partnership.

It is an invitation to talk, review ideas and find areas where independent open-source communities might contribute knowledge without compromising their autonomy.

Any future participation would need to be explicitly agreed by the organisations or contributors involved.

Building an open ecosystem

We're applying the same philosophy across the wider MyZubster ecosystem.

The goal isn't to collect logos.

The goal is to create technically meaningful connections through:

issue → contribution → review → interoperability experiment → evidence → possible collaboration

That process is slower than simply announcing integrations.

But it produces something much more valuable:

trust backed by public work.

MyZubster LIFE 2026 is still in pre-candidature development, and important consortium, pilot, baseline, KPI and validation decisions are still being completed.

We'll keep publishing the technical journey as it develops.
