If you build Godot 4 games in Cursor or Claude, you already know the awkward loop.
You hit Play. Something breaks. You open the Output panel, select a wall of red text, paste it into chat, and hope the model guesses the right scene and node. Then you click through the same menu path again to check the fix. Repeat until dinner.
That paste dance is slow, lossy, and easy to get wrong. The agent cannot see your running game. It only sees what you remembered to copy.
The fix: Playtest MCP
Godot Playtest MCP wires a local MCP server to your Godot 4 project so Cursor or Claude can drive playtests instead of guessing from files.
What that means in practice:
- Record inputs once, replay them from an editor dock or from the agent
- Assert nodes and state without re-clicking the same scene
- Capture PNG checkpoints when a frame looks wrong
- Run batch suites and get CI-friendly JSON on the Full edition
Start free with Playtest MCP Lite. Lite is enough to stop the Output-panel paste habit. When you want assert suites and CI JSON, Full is name-your-own-price with a $9 minimum.
Full purchase note: sales are final, no refunds.
Why MCP beats another chat paste
MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets the agent call tools. For playtesting, those tools talk to Godot on your machine. The model can ask for a replay, an assert, or a screenshot instead of asking you to narrate what happened.
You keep working in the editor you already use. The agent gets structured feedback from the game, not a cropped screenshot of an error log.
The rest of the suite (free Lite, paid Full)
I built these because I needed them while shipping Godot and Love2D projects. Every tool has a free Lite. Full is NYOP and funds more AI tooling. Overview write-up: Sharing the Godot and Love2D tools I actually use.
Full pages:
- Playtest MCP Full ($9 NYOP) - asserts, suites, CI JSON
- Export CI MCP Full - validate presets, Actions workflows, multi-platform matrix
- GDScript Gate Full - rename, unused symbols, project report, CI gate
- Dialogue Full - conditions, variables, localization keys, Yarn/JSON import
- PCK Inspector Full - diff, patch write-back, checksums, batch extract
- Tile Autotile Full - multi-layer TileSets, custom bitmasks, preview bake
- Asset Placer Full - surface align, exclusion volumes, presets, undo batches
- Aseprite Sync MCP Full - tag-to-animation maps, atlas rebuild over MCP
- Love2D MCP Full ($9 NYOP) - input, screenshots, asserts, watch, run_lua for LÖVE

Who this is for
Indie Godot 4 folks who already use Cursor, Claude, or another MCP client. If you are happy pasting Output forever, you do not need this. If you want the agent to run the same play path you just recorded, start with Lite.
Soft CTA
- Grab Playtest MCP Lite (free)
- Wire it into Cursor or Claude MCP settings
- Replay one flaky scene without pasting logs
- If the Full loop earns its keep, upgrade at $9 NYOP
Paid Fulls fund more of this AI tooling. Thanks for trying the free stuff either way.
