I'm re-learning programming for the Nth time. The last time I made a living as a programmer was with Lotus 1-2-3-4. Dinosaurs roamed the Earth, and Unix had grown to something like 80K. This huge size meant that it needed a whole five-pound disk pack to carry it around. Later technology made it possible to get it onto a couple of ten-inch floppies.
Since then I've forgotten everything. I'm starting out with Python, and will look at Ruby next.
If Lotus 1-2-3-4 doesn't date me enough, I was user #300 on ARPAnet in 1971, when I was on staff at the MIT AI Lab. The 'Net at that time had seven nodes and, until I came along, 299 users. These included fraternity Coca-Cola machines, pay telephones, a number of turtles and a machine for shooting space aliens, so the number of actual humans was somewhat lower...
GitHub brought me here, I'd guess by fortuitous accident, but I like the style of what I've seen, so I'm glad to be here.
