The AGENTS.md file is the new README

Five years ago the README told humans how a project worked. Now the first reader of your repo is often an AI agent.

That is why I think every repo needs an AGENTS.md. Short, sharp, in the root. It is the contract between you and the machine that writes your code.

If you have not read what your agent sees first, you are missing the most important file in your project.
