I recently built FinCalc AI, a free financial calculator site. But calculators alone do not rank — you need content. So I wrote 34 articles covering everything from mortgage guides to crypto investing.

The Strategy

Each article targets a long-tail keyword that the big sites (NerdWallet, Bankrate) overlook:

  • "401k vs Roth IRA guide" instead of "retirement planning"
  • "mortgage early payoff guide" instead of "mortgage calculator"
  • "side hustle tax guide 2026" instead of "tax tips"

Keeping It Human

Google is getting aggressive about AI content detection. My rules:

  • Every article includes personal observations or real examples
  • Short paragraphs, varied sentence length
  • No "In todays digital landscape..." openings
  • Add specific numbers and dates ("2026 tax brackets", "30-year fixed rate")

The Tech Stack

Pure HTML + vanilla JS. No CMS, no frameworks. Each article is a single HTML file. Sitemaps auto-generated. Deployed on Cloudflare Pages.

Results So Far

Still early, but the site is getting indexed and Google is starting to show impressions for long-tail finance queries.
