December 2026 Crypto Calendar: The Fed, Four Central Banks and a Christmas Expiry

December 2026 front-loads its macro events and back-loads its liquidity problems.

The first half packs in a jobs report, a Federal Reserve meeting with fresh projections, an inflation print and three more central banks. The second half thins out — then puts the largest remaining crypto derivatives expiry of the year on Christmas morning, while U.S. stock markets are closed.

Every date below was checked against its official source on October 5, 2026. Dates can still change, so check the source before relying on one.

Three things that make December unusual

1. The Fed decides before CPI. Most months put the inflation print first. In December, the FOMC announces on Wednesday the 9th and November CPI lands at 8:30 AM ET on Thursday the 10th. The committee decides without that reading, and the market gets a new inflation number before it has finished reacting to the projections.

2. Four central banks in ten days. The Fed (Dec 9), then the ECB and Bank of England (Dec 17), then the Bank of Japan (Dec 18).

3. The year's biggest expiry lands on a holiday. Deribit's December quarterly settles at 08:00 UTC on Christmas Day. U.S. equities are shut, many desks are thin, and year-end positioning is closing at the same time.

What we watch on-chain around these dates

We track 20,000+ Ethereum whale wallets. Around scheduled events we look at:

  • Stablecoin exchange flow — how many USDT/USDC dollars whales move onto or off exchanges in the days before and after.
  • Exchange flow for ETH and large-cap tokens — net withdrawals vs deposits.
  • The daily Whale Sentiment Index — whether whale flow leans toward the accumulation or distribution side.

These are observations of past flow, not predictions. You can follow them live on the Deep Blue Alpha feed and the Whale Sentiment Index.
