97.9% of B2B SaaS sites leave their doors open to AI crawlers... but they are flying blind.

97.9% of B2B SaaS sites leave their doors open to AI crawlers... but they are flying blind.

We completed a 100% audit of the robots.txt configurations of 12,767 B2B SaaS domains in our production directory to measure how many technology sites actively block AI search bots.

The Exclusion Rate Numbers

  • GPTBot (ChatGPT): 2.01% blocked (257 domains)
  • Google-Extended (Gemini): 1.89% blocked (241 domains)
  • ClaudeBot (Anthropic): 0.75% blocked (96 domains)
  • PerplexityBot: 0.65% blocked (83 domains)
  • All AI Bots Completely: 0.56% blocked (72 domains)

The Takeaway for B2B Founders & CMOs

Over 97.9% of B2B SaaS companies leave their doors completely open to AI search bots.

However, because they do not proactively optimize their HTML templates, structured metadata, or agent handshake protocols, they are "visible but unoptimized." When a buyer asks ChatGPT Search or Perplexity: "Recommend the best CRM for real estate under $50/mo", the models frequently hallucinate features or steer buyers to big-tech alternatives.
