I gotta give props to Rainbow Kitten Surprise from outta North Carolina. I've been following them for a good bit now and have witnessed their lead singer's transition to womanhood — she is an amazing person and it's been a really cool thing so! They're just a beautiful band with a really loving message and I recommend that everyone give them a listen.
Check out their song "Hide" which doubles as a mini-documentary about drag queens and try not to cry.
They actually just released a new tune the other day too! 🙌
I don't really listen to most of the songs you all are sharing — I'm a Christian, so I limit myself a bit in music.
For that reason, you'll probably find these songs boring but here they are:
If you listen to any of my songs, you should do that one at least.
Love that one too.
Toby mac is always great.
Another good one…
Toby mac, again.
Also a good one.
Last, but not least.
Anyway, that's all I've got. 😊
Conclusion
I have too many 'most favorite' songs. 🤣
No worries at all! Def open to ya sharing some Christian tunes with us here. 🙌
I've only briefly tuned into the previews so far, but they're sounding good. Appreciate ya bringing so many different tunes to the table. 😀
Alright, thanks for clarifying. 🙃
I listened to a few of the other songs here; it's fun to hear something new!
Anyway, I guess I should stop commenting, or I'll squash all the comments underneath me 🥴…
Honestly, Music Monday has become one of my favorite places to find new music — I'm biased of course because I post the article, haha!
I consider myself pretty open to different genres and enjoy discovering new music through people introducing it to me, so this flow works well for me. I feel like I often connect music to memories, and can remember people by what they've suggested. And music is just a great way to get folks to open up!
I'm glad ya enjoyed checking out some of the other stuff in the mix here. And don't feel like ya gotta squash any comments, haha! Folks can sift through our extended convo just fine. They'll deal, haha! 😄
For sure, I listen to Mandisa a lot because her songs make me remember hearing them for the first time (back in 2013 or so, I think. Seems so long ago, but not that long ago… time is weird.).
I also discovered the
subscribe to comments
feature, so I get messages for all the new songs. 🤓Powerful last one!
🙂 Yep. Lauren Daigle has some pretty powerful ones; but I like upbeat music, so
Overcomer
is my personal favorite out of those.I just found some more I like, so I'll add those in a bit…
Wow, she does have a powerful voice and this is an uplifting tune. Really good stuff!
Who, Mandisa or Lauren? Also, I tried to choose my favorite women singers but I couldn't resist my favorite Toby Mac songs too.
Is that OK?
Oh yeah! All good. Toby Mac is welcome too. And, I was meaning Lauren Daigle here — such a strong, soulful voice!
Okaaay I've got awesome titles! Memories, let's gooooo!
And more recent :
Hi, How to embed the links in the comment?
Hello! you can embed any links like that
Thankyou :)
Another one, LittleBigWhale, a french streameuse on Twitch, who does karaoke every Sunday night.
Admittedly, I know very little about this performer (MØ), but one pop song that I really love is "Lean On"
Here's a cool cover of it by the Scary Pockets crew and featuring Elise Trouw:
Major Lazer has so many good collabs!
Ooooooooh Lean Oooonn! Good call
Late to the party but....for the drive home or when people in the house allow you time to yourself throw on some Sade.
Oooo alright! Def will do. You got a specific album you'd suggest starting with?
That's a tough call. You might miss out on some good stuff. I say go to your favorite streaming app and plug in Sade. Let it do its thing. Unless someone wants to recommend an album.
Gotcha, that makes sense! I'll just dive into the whole discog then. 😀
Will let ya know if I have a fave album.
Was anything on the Sade playlist that caught your ears?
To be perfectly honest, I got caught up with other stuff and totally forgot to tune in.
I'mma pop on this greatest hits playlist now and will let ya know what I think!
I literally just started but "No Ordinary Love" is smooth stuff. 😎
That's a good playlist right there. Enjoy
Even though I'm not french, I like the french language, movies and music.
Recently I watched "Stalk" on Netflix, a series about a hacker at a college for computer science. I liked it very much, because it is exceptionally realistic. In one scene they sang this song, that's how I recognized Tessa B for the first time:
This is really cool! The general vibe of the music — the kinda smooth and minimal hip hop beats — remind me of one of my favorite bands, Glass Animals. And I'm really liking Tessa B.'s vocals on this too, they fit perfectly!
Bringing heavy songs by metal queens!
Oh word up, Carlos!! These women rock out! 🤘
Really appreciate ya showing the heavier side that women rockers bring. Good stuff!!
The other day I saw something on Dave Chappelle's Block Party and how they wanted Lauryn Hill to play some of her tunes at the performance, but Columbia Records wouldn't clear her songs, so instead she reunited with the Fugees. What a boss!
There's an extremely cool harp player by the name of Mikaela Davis that is very worth checking out.
Here she is playing through various Grateful Dead tunes with her band Southern Star.
And here she is playing with a jam band I like called Circles Around the Sun.
Janis Joplin is one of my all-time faves and "Me and Bobby McGee" is one helluva tune.
And here she is singing "Piece of My Heart" live... so much soul!
And how about this interview with Dick Cavett?
Today, I'm listening: Heart of Glass - Blondie
Blondie is awesome and this tune freaking rocks! Gahhh I love it. 😀
Great suggestion, Michelle! 🙌
Speaking of, I really like the band, Future Islands, and they did a track a few years back with Debbie Harry (lead singer of Blondie) that is pretty dang cool. Check it out!
Gotta love the amazing Lena raine. Her Minecraft tracks get me inspired when I feel bored.
Oh heck yeah! This is so dope, Benjamin. 🙌
I've always loved the music in Minecraft, but never knew who was behind it. I looked Lena up and she has done some seriously awesome work.
Lena Raine, also known as Lena Chappelle or Kuraine, is an American-Canadian composer, producer, and video game developer. Raine is best known for her work on the soundtracks of Celeste, Minecraft and Guild Wars 2. She has composed music for various other video games, including Deltarune and Chicory: A Colorful Tale.
As video game playing generations grow up, I feel like the music in those games is finally getting the love and attention it deserves — makes me so happy! I think the limitations of old-school (8 bit, 16 bit... even 64 bit) video game music in particular make for some really cool, original sounds. And I know Minecraft isn't necessarily that old, but of course it's stylized to be older and the music definitely fits.
Side note, another game with similarly chill music to Minecraft, though less lofi, is Pikmin! Give this a listen.

Rockin, Dominic!! 🤘
Appreciate ya chiming in with these. 🙌
