I'm the developer. I wanted a PDF reader that lets me highlight and take notes without ads, without an account, and without my documents going to someone else's server. I couldn't find one, so I built it.
What it does:
- Open PDFs from your phone and read offline
- Highlight in five colours, and attach notes to pages or highlights
- Search the text, jump to a page, and pick up where you left off
- Export a PDF with your annotations, or back up your whole library
- Optional Google Drive sync. Reader only gets access to the files it creates (drive.file), and your PDFs and notes stay in your own Drive. The same library opens on the website (read.dhruuv.me), so you can read on a laptop too.
It's free, with no ads. It runs on Android 9 and newer.
What it doesn't do yet: OCR (scanned PDFs have no selectable text), handwriting, or text reflow.
It's new (0.2.1), so bug reports and "it would be perfect if…" comments are what I'm after.
