Hello wonderful people of Dev.to!
Let me tell you a back story of myself. I recently finished a coding bootcamp in Fall 2023. I finished one of the top students in my cohorts and was always looking to improve at the time. I was hooked. I took a major break and thought to myself I could do so and pick up right where I left off. I came back from my vacation and was unmotivated thinking, I'll still take a couple of months off because that's just how my brain works.
I realizd how wrong I was. I opened up VSCode and understood somethings, but at the same time I also realized that I wasn't nearly as efficient as I was once before. Yes, I know that this was my fault. I put myself in this position. However, I started coding again and realized why I might have stopped before and seemed unmotivated coming back to the world. However, this time the journey is so much more satisfying because I'm doing it because I want to and my thought process isn't skewed because of monetary motivation.
What do I mean? Well I'm working on my own now. I don't have the feeling of 'I have to go to this class because if not, I'm going to miss this'. Rather, it's I want to spend time on this because I want to get better.
Anyways, I've created a Discord community server to help myself stay motivated and helping motivate others along the way. While it's a very small community, I do have plans to help it grow eventually. If you're new to coding, I encourage you to come, join and introduce yourself. Heck, you might even be the smartest one in the room =)
