Link-in-bio tools are built around links. But when someone clicks a founder's bio, they're usually asking a different question: what is this person working on, and what's actually live?
So I built What I Am Building (my project). It's free, and you claim whatiambuilding.com/yourname.
The data model is the product
A link is just a title and a URL. A project needs more:
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Status (launched / building / paused / stealth) | Visitors know what they can use today |
| Progress % | Scannable at a glance |
| Platform (web, mobile...) and category | Context without a paragraph |
| Started / launched / expected dates | Shows momentum |
| Direct link | Taps go straight to the product |
Stealth mode was the hard part
Founders want to show they're building something without leaking it. A stealth project stays on your page with its link hidden and whichever details you choose (name, description, icon, dates) masked, e.g. P*****r, and it's excluded from the public directory entirely.
Distribution is built in
Every page links into a public directory of founders and projects, so a page is also a small discovery surface for everyone else listed.
My page, as an example: whatiambuilding.com/emiliano. If you're a dev with a graveyard of side projects, I'd love to see yours on there.
