Hello everyone, I am LINE Tech Evangelist - Evan Lin. LINE FRESH represents the deep connection between LINE Taiwan and students. The "LINE FRESH Internship Program" has been held for 6 consecutive years, not only discovering outstanding talents from various fields on campus, but also providing a starting point for the careers of many young students.
Therefore, the LINE Taiwan team decided to hold the first campus competition this year, hoping to invite outstanding students on campus to showcase their creativity through the competition, utilize LINE's diverse services or open platform technologies, create more business possibilities for Taiwan's industries, and provide Taiwanese users with a more comprehensive and convenient life experience.
Competition Theme
The competition theme for the "Hackathon" group is as follows: LINE has always been committed to "revolutionizing lifestyles," breaking down the barriers between online and offline, and developing more practical and convenient platforms and services to provide users with a comprehensive experience. Please use your imagination and creativity to create a new LINE service item or application solution that is both practical and fun, or propose optimization suggestions for existing LINE services.

Activity Flow

Mentor Meeting
The content of the mentor meeting activity is that the finalist teams will go to the LINE office on the day to receive guidance from senior LINE mentors. Through development aspects, discussions and consultations on development experience and related technologies.
The mentors on the day were also senior engineers selected from each team, including "LINE Hotspots", "LINE Shopping", "LINE Today", "LINE Audience +" and senior engineering personnel from the data engineering team.
On the day, through the guidance of senior industry mentors, the students also became more familiar with the overall product concept and knew how to leverage the advantages of their products to create product services that would amaze users.
Finals Day
The activity flow on the day of the finals is as follows:
- 09:00 ~ 09:15: Opening ceremony and CTO's speech
- 09:15 ~ 12:30 Hacking
- 12:30 ~ 13:30 Lunch
- 13:30 ~ 14:00 Guess and Game

Opening Host
This time, the author was in charge of hosting the finals. Although the opening time was 09:00, the students were very enthusiastic in participating. This made the staff very much look forward to the results of the finals.
CTO's Speech
"Small pain points in any aspect of life are often the solutions to powerful business opportunities," LINE Taiwan CTO Marco Chen encouraged every participating student during his speech. Many small pain points in life will be good ideas for every hackathon. This is also why LINE Taiwan holds internal employee hackathon competitions every year. We believe that the pain points of many colleagues will often be good ideas to change the world, and will also be opportunities to improve work efficiency and promote cooperation among colleagues.
The Most Important Thing in the Competition
At the opening, there was a question to the students participating below the stage. "What is the most important thing to participate in the hackathon?" The students shouted in unison, which was food. Of course, as "LINE FRESH 2020 Campus Competition - Hackathon Group", since the students still needed to be in high spirits for the final preparations, of course, the food preparation was not lacking. The endless snacks and coffee could stimulate the students' spirits.
Guess and Game
In the hackathon competition held by LINE Taiwan, there is an interesting tradition of a guessing game. (Refer to LINE Taiwan Internal Hackathon 2020) The content is to relieve the tension of the contestants through a series of interesting riddles, and also to allow each student to face the tense final report in the afternoon with more energy.
The types of questions are also quite interesting, such as: "Which side of Brown's mouth is longer?" "Is Sally a chicken or a duck?". Every participant was very enthusiastic, and it could also be felt that everyone's tense mood could be relieved.

Work Introduction:
The willingness of Taiwanese people to raise pets is increasing day by day, but it is observed that pet owners have a lower awareness of insuring their pets. The proposal is to open up smart digital channels for the current insurance industry, provide insurance services that are close to customer needs with AI, and also provide pets with protection.

Create a new service "LINE Medi", with the goal of allowing users to establish their personal health information through this service, and build a health management platform for LINE.
Activity Summary
The first LINE FRESH campus competition came to a perfect ending after the finals and awards ceremony held on 11/14. This competition had a total of 16 teams in the business marketing group and 10 teams in the hackathon group participating enthusiastically. Through this competition activity, we hope to bring students more cooperation and exchange with LINE, the inheritance of practical experience, and beautiful memories of sparking creative sparks. About the LINE TECH FRESH "Technical Star" Program
Every year, the LINE Taiwan engineering team recruits university/graduate students who are related to information technology or have some knowledge of this field through LINE TECH FRESH – Technical Star Talent Program, and joins the LINE team for long-term internships (one year), allowing students to observe and learn in an international technology company. LINE TECH FRESH is led by two experienced technical project managers, who will be exposed to diverse projects and product development, learn the actual software project division of labor in the industry, and experience cross-national team cooperation. In the past, the work content included server, web, mobile app, chatbot, IoT, data, DevOps and other fields, and through the internship, they became familiar with the LINE platform system, SDK, API, etc. It is worth mentioning that LINE TECH FRESH is a paid internship opportunity.
