Ever since i heard about web accessibility, i have always tried to meet up with that.
Web accessibility is all about how easy and good your website and other softwares is to users.
So many business websites out there are not meeting up to the accessibility factors. Is your website contrast okay for people with color blindness? Does the images have alt text for screen readers? Is your website mobile friendly?
The benefits of implementing web accessibility in your website and other softwares is very massive. It makes your website to be accessible for everyone, including people with disabilities which is one of the key factors (universality) of the web according to Tim Berners-Lee.
A fast loading websites increases the revenue of the business or company. According to research, a one-second site speed improvement can increase conversions by up to 27%. It also increases trust. That's massive right?
A website that has good accessibility rate is likely to rank on search engines like Google. When your set is mobile friendly, has good contrast and well SEO optimized, search engines will show your websites to customers as one of the best in that niche when they search for some certain keywords. But how will that help your business? Well, it will increase your business online visibility which will lead to increase in customers, this will increase the revenue of your business and decreases the ad budget. Amazing right😊?
But how can someone know about the accessibility rate of a website?
There are so many tools out there that can help you to do that. You can use Google SpeedPage Insight or Gtmetrix. Although some people are saying that Google SpeedPage Insight is not 100% accurate, but for you to be sure of the results, you can use the two, that's what i do.
I can't talk about web accessibility without acknowledging the efforts of amazing companies that promulgates the importance of web accessibility and makes it possible as well.
Finally, as a developer, always try to consider web accessibility factors, it makes your work nice and friendly to use.
