Go-Diagnoser-Engine explained

Backend teams need to run health checks against fleets of nodes: submit a target, get structured pass/fail results with latency, without blocking the caller. Go-Diagnoser-Engine is that execution backbone: a Go microservice that accepts diagnostic jobs over REST, runs probes concurrently on a bounded worker pool, and returns structured results.

The pain: with hundreds of nodes, serial checks are unusably slow; spawning goroutines without bounds blows up the checker itself. What's needed is a uniform backbone with backpressure, observability, and non-blocking callers — exactly what this engine is.

Four steps. First, REST intake: POST /api/v1/diagnose submits a job, using net/http's native routing with zero external dependencies. Second, a bounded queue: a buffered channel, fail-fast 503 when full instead of unbounded growth. Third, concurrent execution on a fixed worker pool defaulting to NumCPU: each job's checks fan out on short-lived goroutines with a 30-second timeout per check. Fourth, result retrieval: GET /api/v1/jobs/{id} returns a CheckResult array with latency; in-memory store, graceful shutdown with no goroutine leaks.

Demo note: this machine has no Go toolchain, so no live demo here — architecture diagram instead. What really works end to end is the full request path; the probes themselves are SIMULATED placeholders, labeled in every response.

Honest note: scaffold edition. Real diagnostic rules are the next step, marked TODO(ezra) in code; Postgres/Redis storage is TODO too. MIT licensed, link in the description. See you next time!

S6: Take a breather. A calligrapher writes stroke by stroke; slow work makes fine work. Code is the same: fast isn't always good, but steady goes far. May God, the Creator of heaven and earth, bless the work of your hands.
