My friend got a full-stack dev job without knowing anything

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ This happened a few months ago, but I thought it was relevant to share with you all. ๐Ÿค” Can you imagine someone getting a full-stack internship without GitHub, without experience, and without any certifications? โœจ Well, this is one of those stories that might surprise you.

A friend of mine landed their first internship as a full-stack developer (yes, both front and back) without GitHub, without experience, and without certifications... and they started off making minimum wage at a large company, in less than a week, through job platforms! No connections or referrals involvedโ€”just their resume! They had never coded in their life before. For the first six months, the company told them they would just study and didn't have to do anything else. ๐Ÿ“Œ I'm here to remind you that, yes, there's a bit of luck involved in these stories.

After all, I and several friends are out here with our GitHubs full of projects, well-crafted social profiles, polished resumes, some even with experience in the field, good positioning on LinkedIn, and we also attend tech events to stay updated. Besides that, many of us, including myself, have already completed a degree in Analysis and Systems Development and are now pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, which further adds to our qualifications. And yet, we still struggle with bad internships or don't get anything at all.

๐ŸŽฏ Meanwhile, someone with a resume that simply says "I'm studying Analysis and Systems Development (a tech-focused degree program)" gets an incredible opportunity. Of course, this is an isolated case, but it makes you think. Many people with good projects have gotten jobs at even better companies, so don't lose hope! The journey is full of ups and downs, and this example just reinforces that there's an element of luck, but also being in the right place at the right time.

๐Ÿ’ช The important thing is not to give up, to keep studying, improving, and creating your own opportunities. ๐Ÿš€ Who knows, maybe tomorrow it will be your turn to land that amazing internship?
