Hi dev.to πŸ‘‹

tonGues is a language-exchange messenger we're building β€” chat, voice and
video calls, media messages, on-the-fly translation and transcription. The
client is Flutter, the backend is FastAPI + PostgreSQL, and there's a small
fleet of Redis, MinIO and AI services underneath.

From today we're changing how we work in the open: every change we ship in
the app gets a short write-up here.

What that means

  • ✍️ New features, fixes and refactors become a small post β€” what changed and why.
  • 🧱 The interesting bits (a WebSocket failover, a media upload quirk, a Flutter widget that misbehaved at 2Γ— text scale) get the detail they deserve.
  • πŸ—ΊοΈ Over time it becomes a public changelog of the project.

No promises of a fixed schedule β€” just a commitment to stop keeping the
interesting parts to ourselves.

That's it for the first one. The next post will be about something we
actually broke and fixed. πŸ™‚

β€” the tonGues team
