Introducing Frontend Mentor for Teams!

Since starting Frontend Mentor, we've helped individual developers around the world improve their coding skills by building realistic projects. Seeing the transformations in both competence and confidence is always amazing as people move away from passive learning (e.g., tutorials) and towards active skill application.

And now, we're delighted to launch Frontend Mentor for Teams, where we aim to help companies and educators incorporate project-based learning into their developer training!

Over the past five years, we’ve helped tens of thousands of developers (886,604 at the time of writing, to be precise!) improve their skills and confidence through project-based learning.

Something magical happens when people stop passively consuming content and start focusing on active skill application instead. After all, there’s only one way to truly master a skill: practice.

There really is no better way to boost skills than consistent, repetitive, intentional practice. It doesn’t sound overly glamorous, but it’s true. It’s true for any skill you aim to master, and it’s no different with coding: intentional practice will take you further than any video tutorial ever can.

Since we started Frontend Mentor, we’ve helped developers rack up hundreds of hours of hands-on keyboard, pulling your hair out over a bug only to realize you’re missing a semicolon, real-life experience.

And there’s nothing better than experience—not even a shiny certificate (although they’re nice, too)!

Our core focus has so far been helping developers get into the industry. However, over the years, we’ve noticed that more and more professional developers are subscribed to Frontend Mentor Pro as part of their professional training. Their companies want to use Frontend Mentor to help upskill their developers by making it easier to clock up productive hours building projects.

It’s not just companies with in-house developers, though. We’ve worked with coding bootcamps to incorporate Frontend Mentor challenges into their curriculum. They’ve realized that adding realistic projects can massively boost their students skills and help get them ready for life as professional developers. It also provides an easy way for teachers to give feedback on student submissions.

So, we’re excited to announce a new offering to help companies and educators efficiently manage multiple Pro licenses: Frontend Mentor for Teams!

Frontend Mentor for Teams - Upskill your developers faster with project-based learning

How it works

The first version is extremely simple:

  1. An admin (perhaps an engineering manager, team lead, CTO, or instructor) creates an account on the Teams platform.
  2. They add the required number of seats for their team.
  3. The admin then fills the seats with Frontend Mentor users, unlocking access to Pro on their accounts.

Admins can easily manage their learners through the Teams platform. This includes easily checking activity and progress through each learner’s public profile.

Future plans

We wanted to keep the first version as simple as possible, but we have exciting plans for the Teams platform going forward.

Our mission remains the same: to help people worldwide become confident, competent developers. Our combination of project-based learning and community mentorship is a powerful skill multiplier for developers of all experience levels.

We want more developers in our community to give helpful advice and feedback to people seeking support. The benefits go both ways: the recipient learns from the feedback provided, and the person giving the feedback reinforces their knowledge and improves their communication and mentorship skills…all valuable for career progression!

So, not only do we see loads of value in professional developers completing our projects for skill progression, but it is also an incredible opportunity for companies to level up their developers by embedding them in the Frontend Mentor community so they can both give and receive feedback to progress even further.

We haven't finalized details yet, but features like customizable learning paths, team branding, and progress tracking are areas we're exploring.
