Queer ecology and the limits of binary descriptions of nature

The article analyzes the relationship between scientific categories and biological reality, using the perspective of queer ecology presented in Patricia Ononiwu Kaishian's book Forest Euphoria. The author argues that traditional classifications (e.g., male-female) often reflect cultural constructs and anthropocentrism rather than the objective structure of the world. Invoking Ludwik Fleck's concept of thought collectives and the evolution of fungal systematics, the text indicates that a revision of the conceptual apparatus is essential to increase scientific objectivity. Organisms that evade simple divisions become key cognitive points that force a departure from rigid binarities in favor of more adequate and plastic models for describing life.
