The Anatomy of Power and Geopolitics: An Analysis of J. Andrews' Thought

The text analyzes John Andrews' concept regarding the return of political realism in the face of the current crisis of international order. The author indicates that despite digitalization and globalization, the material aspects of power—territory, resources, and military potential—have regained key importance. Geopolitics is understood here as the art of perceiving the physical reality that determines state security. A significant element of the analysis is the paradox of interdependence: global networks of connection, while economically efficient, become structures of vulnerability and tools of pressure in the hands of stronger players. Referring to Thucydides and the Melian Dialogue, the text emphasizes the primacy of existential interests over legal norms in critical situations, where the final political decision depends on the actual ability to enforce it.
