Google's AI-powered Search features are under fresh scrutiny after a new report raised concerns about how safe they are for children.
The report claims that AI Overviews and AI Mode may not offer enough protection for younger users, even when SafeSearch is enabled.
Researchers found that some AI-generated answers contained inaccurate information, completed homework instead of encouraging learning, and occasionally responded to harmful or sensitive topics in an unsafe way.
They also pointed out that parents have limited control over the AI responses shown in Google Search.
Google has disagreed with the report, saying the tests were based on unrealistic search queries and do not reflect how most people use Search. The company also says its AI systems include several safety measures to protect users.
The report has sparked a wider conversation about making AI-powered search tools safer, more accurate, and more suitable for children as AI becomes a bigger part of everyday online searches.
