Tomato soup for the Soul

This is a submission for Frontend Challenge - Comfort Food Edition, CSS Art.

Inspiration

Inspired by the warmth of a classic bowl of tomato soup, I wanted to create a small piece of comfort using nothing but CSS.

Journey

I created the bowl, soup, cream swirl, basil leaves, steam, shadows, and table texture entirely with CSS. I experimented with gradients, border-radius, pseudo-elements, shadows, and simple animations to make the soup feel warm and alive.

I especially enjoyed creating the steam and soup ripple effects without using images or SVGs. Next, I'd like to add more small details and interactions to make the scene feel even more like a cozy kitchen moment.
