1Password has introduced 1Password for Agents, allowing AI assistants to authenticate into user services without exposing raw credentials.
Learn how the system utilizes digital keys and confirmation loops to manage delegated agent sessions across supported integrations.
According to the company, when a digital assistant attempts to log in on your behalf, a unique digital key is sent to 1Password to verify its identity. The user then receives a notification and can personally approve the request. Once that’s done, 1Password fills in the login details on your behalf, allowing the assistant to proceed without seeing your passwords.
The new service supports a variety of well-known assistants, including Anthropic's Claude Duet, OpenAI's ChatGPT Work and Dots, Grok Bot, Meta's Muse, and assistants from Town. The company says it's working with other companies to expand the list of supported assistants in the future.
On the same day, reports said that US banks have begun to detect activity from automated assistants within their customers' accounts. This activity involves consumers allowing automated services to act on their behalf, including in financial matters.
