Rivian spinout Also has discontinued its Kenya electric two-wheeler pilot to focus on autonomous vehicle development with DoorDash.
Following supply chain delays and certification hurdles, the company shipped its TM-B electric bikes, though early buyers have reported battery and transit issues.
The shift to autonomous vehicles
Also President Chris Yu said the decision to exit the Kenya program was made to prioritize a new partnership with DoorDash. Also is now focusing on developing small autonomous vehicles, which it believes could find market application more quickly than passenger vehicles.
Problems with the TM-B bike
Alongside its strategic changes, the company faced significant difficulties during its first year of operation with its first product, the TM-B electric bicycle. Supply chain issues and delays in necessary certifications led to significant delays in deliveries.
Chris Yu admitted that the company's communication with customers during the summer of 2026 was lacking. Deliveries of the TM-B bikes finally began in early October 2026. However, early buyers have already reported issues, such as damage caused during transport of the bikes, as well as problems with the battery's operation.
