Apple's new M6 iMac introduces hardware-level performance bumps, featuring 10-core and 12-core chip variants designed for faster productivity, graphics rendering, and AI prompt processing workloads alongside Wi-Fi 7 support.

According to the company, the new model offers up to 1,5 times faster task processing, twice the graphics performance, five times the speed of processing artificial intelligence commands, and twice the performance of games with 3D rendering technology compared to the 2024 model that featured the M4 chip.

Connection options and ports

The new chip comes in two basic versions. The first has ten cores in the central processor and ten in the graphics. The second offers twelve cores in both categories, while also including four additional connection ports and one wired network port.

Internal upgrades also include a new connectivity chip that supports faster wireless networks and newer Bluetooth technology. The exterior design remains the same with a 24-inch Retina display, while available colors include blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange, and silver.

Prices and availability

The 10-core version starts at $1.499 with 16 gigabytes of memory and 256 gigabytes of storage. The more powerful 12-core version starts at $1.699 for the same configuration, while the final price can exceed $3.299 depending on options.
