Apple introduces the first MacBook Pro with a touchscreen and 24-hour battery life

Apple introduced its first touch-screen MacBook Pro models featuring tandem OLED displays, the Dynamic Island, and macOS touch translation for existing apps.

The new touchscreen and its capabilities

The display offers a maximum brightness of up to 2.000 nits and an adjustable refresh rate from 10Hz to 120Hz. According to Apple's head of hardware, Johnny Sruzzi, this technology is combined with advanced algorithms.

The touch screen allows users to perform gestures such as swiping, pinching, and double-tapping to interact with apps, web pages, and 3D models. macOS software automatically converts taps into clicks, allowing many existing apps to work directly with touch.

Design and features

The design ditches the classic notch at the top of the screen and replaces it with the Dynamic Island feature we know from the iPhone. On the back, the Apple logo on the laptop's lid is backlit.
