Apple is set to announce HomeView, a new Siri-powered smart home hub running on an A18 chip and built to control connected devices.
Scheduled for a mid-November release in countertop and wall-mounted models, the hardware lineup also includes updates to the Apple TV and HomePod mini.
HomeView will allow users to control other smart devices in their home. According to the same information, the device is expected to be released in mid-November and will be available in two different models: one for placement on furniture and the other designed to be hung on the wall.
Apple's path to smart home devices
This move comes at a time when the company's previous efforts in the smart home device market, such as its HomeKit software and HomePod smart speakers, have failed to gain much traction.
New devices and partnerships
On the same day, Apple is also expected to unveil updated versions of its TV set and small smart speaker. It is also planning a partnership with LG to launch smart devices such as locks, thermostats and doorbells.
