Apple Intelligence is preparing for its mainland China launch after receiving regulatory approval to integrate Alibaba AI models, including Tongyi Qianwen and Tongyi Wanxiang, following nearly two years of compliance preparations.
According to the data, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially approved Alibaba's Qwen language models, as well as the Tongyi Wanxiang image and video production tool.
The path to traffic in China
Although Apple had received the necessary approval to bring its AI services to mainland China since July, the feature had yet to be launched. The new approvals include network licenses for new device models, such as the iPhone Duo, which is expected to launch in China next week with the new Siri digital assistant.
Similar features are already available in Hong Kong, but China's complex legal framework around artificial intelligence and personal data forced the company to wait nearly two years after launching in the United States to bring these features to the Chinese market.
