Blacksmith has raised $66 million in a Series C funding round led by Sequoia, valuing the software testing platform at $1 billion.
The company builds automated code testing infrastructure supporting AI-generated code and has processed over 90 million automated checks.
How the platform works
Blacksmith helps businesses build and audit software, including code written by artificial intelligence. According to the company's co-founder and CEO, Aditya Jayaprakash, most companies struggle to keep up with the volume of audits required today.
As automated systems generate more and more code worldwide, the question remains whether it is trustworthy. The company has performed more than 90 million automated code reviews, with clients including Mercury and Granola.
The funding process
The new funding round comes just two months after a previous $45 million round that valued the company at $550 million. A year ago, the company was valued at $60 million after a $10 million funding round.
