Google is updating automatic activity tracking and health features across Pixel Watches and Fitbit devices, expanding recognized workouts and introducing new monthly health trend summaries for subscribers.
New health features on Fitbit
Health Guardian will be available on Fitbit Air and Fitbit Edge later this month, exclusively for Google Health Premium subscribers.
The service will provide a monthly summary in the Health app of blood pressure and insulin resistance trends, while a digital health advisor within the app will provide wellness and lifestyle suggestions based on these measurements.
Better workout recording
A major update to automatic activity tracking will be released later this month for Fitbit Air, Fitbit Edge, and Pixel Watches 3, 4, and 5.
This update nearly doubles accuracy and increases recognized exercises from 10 to more than 100, reducing workouts lost during recording by more than half.
New metal strap for Fitbit Air
Google has introduced a new knitted stainless steel strap, called Metal Mesh, designed for the Fitbit Air.
The band will be available in Champagne Gold and Polished Silver for $70. A bundle that combines the gold band with an Obsidian Fitbit Air for $150 will also be available through Target and the Google Store.
Pre-orders for the strap open next week, while its release is scheduled for October 27th.
