Google is launching Gmail Live, enabling conversational voice search for inboxes.
The feature moves out of beta alongside similar voice-driven AI integrations for Docs Live and Keep Live, bringing natural language processing to Workspace tools for select subscribers.
Search Gmail with your voice
Gmail Live lets users search for information in their emails using natural language, as if they were having a conversation with someone. Instead of traditional searches, you can ask questions like “what’s the gate number for my flight?” or “what events do I have this week for school?” The service scans your inbox and instantly finds relevant information.
Assistance in drafting documents and organizing notes
Similar features are being added to other applications:
- Docs Live: It allows you to give commands to gather data from your emails, files, conversations, and the web, automatically creating a first draft of a document.
- Keep Live: It processes your voice thoughts in the background to create organized lists and notes. For example, you can verbally describe a plan for painting a room and the app will turn it into a shopping list and step-by-step instructions.
Who has access?
The new features are rolling out this week to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers. The documents feature is currently limited to Pro and Ultra subscribers. Google also announced that all of these features will soon be available to enterprise customers using its services.
