Which phones are affected by the most serious problem?
The most serious issue affects devices running Android versions 14 through 17. In theory, this issue could allow someone to remotely compromise the device without any user intervention. As of early November, Google said there was no evidence that the issue was being used in actual attacks.
Devices receive the relevant fix through security updates dated 2026-11-01 or later.
A message that can interrupt calls
Another serious vulnerability relates to the way phones handle certain incoming messages. According to a researcher who published information about it in late October, a specially crafted message could cause the phone app to suddenly close, interrupting active calls, even emergency calls.
