Hinge is testing a new, cheaper subscription for more users

Match Group announced a test of a lower-priced Hinge subscription tier during its Q3 2026 earnings call, featuring custom location boundaries and extra filters for price-sensitive users.

What does the new subscription include?

Owner Match Group announced the test during its quarterly earnings call on Monday. The new package will include features such as additional filters and the ability to set specific geographic boundaries.

Match Group CFO Steve Bailey said the program was designed specifically for women and price-conscious users, but the company did not disclose how much the new subscription would cost.

Hinge's financial trajectory

The move comes as Hinge continues to grow. In the quarter, paid users grew 23% to 2,3 million. The app’s total revenue grew 19% to $221 million, while monthly active users grew 12% year-over-year.

In contrast, the company's other major app, Tinder, had $480 million in revenue, down 2% from a year ago, with 8,9 million subscribers. Each paying Hinge user earns an average of about $30, nearly double Tinder's. Hinge previously tested a more expensive $60-a-month subscription plan in 2023.

New features for users

In addition to the cheaper membership, Match Group plans to push more group meetups and events in the fourth quarter of the year. It also plans to start testing new dating suggestions that adapt in real time.
