Google Maps supports saved Home and Work locations, with editing options on desktop and a Labeled list in the Android and iPhone apps.
This guide walks through changing or removing a saved home address and explains an alternative: saving a nearby public place instead of the exact address.
A saved address may be visible to someone who gains access to the phone and opens Maps or another app where it is stored.
Before you save your exact address, consider that anyone who gains access to your phone could see it by opening Google Maps or another app where you have it saved. If you want to avoid this possibility, you can save a nearby public place, such as a restaurant or supermarket, instead of your home.
From computer
Open Google Maps and sign in to your account. If you see "Home" and "Work" options next to the search box, tap "Edit" next to the one you want to change.
For your home address, you can also tap your profile picture and select “Manage your Google Account.” Then, open “Personal info” and select “Home address.”
As you type the address, Google Maps will show suggestions for you to choose from. You can also tap “Choose on map” and select the location on the map. The form also has an optional second address line. To delete the saved address, tap “Remove.”
You can also add or change your work address. Google Maps easily displays it and provides driving estimates.
From the mobile app
Open Google Maps and tap “You.” Then, open the “Labeled” list. If you don’t see it, tap “More” to show all lists.
Tap the three dots next to “Home” or “Work” and select “Edit home” or “Edit work.” You can search for the new address, or tap “Choose on map” and move the map to choose the location. You can also change the icon of the saved address, for example, to a treehouse, submarine, or barn.
Labels for other points
You can give any place your own name so you can find it by searching for that name or use it in voice commands in Android Auto. You can even add a tag to a place without a regular address, like a specific camping spot in a park.
On a computer, open the place information and tap “Add a label.” On a mobile or tablet, swipe left on the row of icons below the place’s basic information. Tap “More,” then “Add label.”
Contact addresses
Google Maps displays addresses saved for your contacts. You can find an address by searching for the contact's name. If the addresses don't appear, check that your Google contacts are synced to your phone and that Google Maps has permission to access your contacts.
