I tested the new foldable iPhone Duo: How it changed the way I use my phone

A practical field test comparing Apple's foldable iPhone Duo and an iPhone 17 Pro Max over five days examines hardware trade-offs, including a smaller exterior display, fingerprint authentication, a dual-camera setup without a telephoto lens, and IP68 durability.

Moving to a more unusual device always comes with its challenges. The Duo has a smaller external display and uses a fingerprint sensor instead of facial recognition. Meanwhile, its camera system has two rear cameras without a telephoto lens and offers less digital zoom compared to the Pro Max.

However, the device proved to be durable, as it was dropped several times on hard surfaces and withstood pressure in a back pocket without breaking. It also has an IP68 certification for dust resistance, while the dual screens offer possibilities for multitasking at the same time.

The most interesting feature is how it affects usage. Because the phone is smaller when closed and requires you to open the device, I noticed that it reduced the amount of constant and pointless app usage. Ultimately, this is a fun and unique device.
